These layers, similar to the map, are created and laid out in front of us as you go through life.
Bad Layers:
Good Layers:
The good layers consist of things such as achievements, friendships, good memories, spreading joy, and caring for yourself and others. You will (or already have) reach some, maybe all, of these layers at one point or another in your life. These are also known as milestones; the things you want to remember and not necessarily learn from. For example, achievements can include graduation, starting a family, making a new friend, or even getting a new job! The last item on the list of some good layers (caring for yourself and others) is by far one of the most important. People are taught from an early age to care for those around them: sharing, comforting, empathizing, and sympathizing. Not only should you be caring for others, but also for yourself. This is a huge milestone: accepting yourself, loving yourself, treating yourself with respect, and holding yourself with confidence.
Is it possible to reach the center of the earth?
As we were writing these two posts, it occurred to us that maybe it’s not exactly possible to reach the center of the earth. Don’t worry though- these two posts were not a complete waste either. The three of us believe that we, as human beings, are not capable of fully understanding ourselves. Our lives are too complex. Finding yourself is an ongoing struggle. There may be a point in your life where you’re incredibly happy and accomplished, but finding your purpose in life is far more complex than we could ever imagine. We can’t just wake up one day, realize our purpose in life, and then next thing we know- boom! Life is over. If we could do that, we highly doubt life would be as exciting as it is today. Maybe one of these days someone will understand the human being completely, who knows? But for now, just work on creating and following your map and don’t ever forget your shovel and rope
