10 Things to Start Doing TODAY

For many people, self-improvement is at the top of their New Year resolution lists and it’s not something that’s too hard to keep up with. Some self-improvement ideas can include making a new friend or trying to be a little healthier, or they can be as simple as:

  1. Smiling: you only live once
  2. Reading more often
  3. Becoming more confident: easier said than done, but it’s worth the try. At least pretend that you’re confident, even when you aren’t.
  4. Speaking up: be heard
  5. Reminding people who you love them
  6. Random Acts of Kindness
  7. Staying in touch: make new friends, but keep the old!
  8. Giving thanks to those around you
  9. Drinking more tea
  10. Listening to happy music in the morning to start the day in a positive mood

I’d like to assume that most people do at least one or two of the ideas above on a daily basis already, and even if you don’t, the new year is  the perfect time to bring out the new you! Don’t go overboard and completely change yourself because then you wouldn’t be staying true to yourself. Little changes like smiling or reminding a close friend that you love them can brighten someone’s day and you don’t have to go through a major transformation. Change your actions rather than your appearance!

  1. I’m glad becoming more confident was your choice for this year! We can all use improvement in small places, and confidence is a struggle for some people, including myself. Blogging can be very helpful, as you mentioned. For some people, speaking with confidence comes naturally. They can put their thoughts together in a millionth of a second and come across as a fully confident and well-prepared person. It takes me much longer than a millionth of a second to gather my thoughts, put it into words, organize the sentences, double-check to make sure it sounds okay, wonder if people will judge what I say, check my thoughts again, make some changes, and then finally raise my hand so I can say something that should be important, but comes out in a mountain of gibberish (reasons why I write my ideas down…). Blogging is very helpful for me because it gives me the time to really think about what I want to say and say it with the enthusiasm and confidence I want to portray to my readers (a blog needs a voice and you have to give it that voice)! Thank you for your comment!

  2. “Become more confident” was the choice I picked. Actually, I found that starting my blog has been helping me with that. Writing about things really helps me to commit to them. But I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir here lol
